Bible Study Series – Studies in Isaiah

Those of us who have been able to attend the Pilgrims Hall Summer Schools in the not so distant past will be delighted to learn of this opportunity to study again under Ariel Berkovitz. Ariel is a gifted and renowned international Bible teacher. (Please see the short biography below.)

In a nine session Bible study series, Ariel will be taking an in depth look at key themes in the Book of the Prophet Isaiah. In a first for Pilgrims Hall this will feature live-streamed teaching from Ariel in Arad, Israel. It will be shown on a large screen TV in the Main Lounge at Pilgrims Hall. It is hoped that Ariel will be able to attend at least one of the sessions in person.

The sessions will run fortnightly, with a couple of modifications as you can see from the programme information below, on Saturday mornings commencing at 9.30am. Each session will be approximately two hours with a short break mid-session, and with time at the end for questions. Tea and coffee will be available at the end of each session for those who wish to stay and chat.

Starting: Saturday 17th September 2022
Ending: Saturday 21st January 2023
Time: 9.30am to 11.30am, plus short time for Q & A’s, followed by drinks.

8th October: Isaiah’s Own Introduction: Isaiah 1–5
Isaiah opens by delivering a stern warning to Israel as well as encouraging prophecies for the believing remnant.

22nd October: “High and Lifted Up”: Isaiah 6
God gives Isaiah an amazing vision of the heavenly throne as He calls Isaiah to his prophetic ministry.

5th November: The Book of Immanuel Part 1: Isaiah 7–8
Chapters 7–12 related a specific historical time frame for Israel as the prophet speaks of Immanuel delivering God’s people.

A continuation of our study of The Book of Immanuel which contains some of the most famous Messianic prophecies found anywhere in the Bible.

3rd December: Prophecies to the Nations: Isaiah 13–25
Isaiah addresses the people of the nations and delivers messages that the Holy One has for them. He begins with the nations immediately surrounding Israel, then expands to prophecies about the entire world.

17th December: Songs of the Servant Part 1: Isaiah 41–50
Chapters 40–53 are a unique section of the book. The subject is an individual called “The Servant”. Is the Servant Israel? Is it someone else? Let us explore and see if we can answer those questions. The climax is Chapter 53.

7th January 2023: Songs of the Servant Part 2: Isaiah 51–53
The Servant is also High and Lifted Up. The climax of the Songs of the Servant is Chapter 53.

21st January 2023: Assorted Chapters 56, 60–61, 66
In these final chapters of Isaiah, the great prophet has another vital message to the nations as well as one more significant Messianic Prophecy.
