Paul wrote his first letter to Timothy whom he had left in charge of the church at Ephesus. Covering a wide range of subjects, Paul teaches how to deal with many emerging problems, including false teachings, conduct in prayer and worship, and family life. He also instructs on the quality of leaders and others serving in the church, whilst giving advice about those who are being served.
Paul may have been away from Ephesus at the time of writing, yet he wanted to ensure his fellow believers served God rightly and fully.
Do the issues confronting a first-century church remain relevant today?
If so, can we still apply the godly answers that Paul supplies?
