Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy – Bible Studies

Bible

The second of our two Bible Study seminars led by Mark Galliers (Trustee) on the Epistles of Paul to Timothy, will be held on Saturday 27th January.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)

Are 2,000-year-old problems still prevalent in the church?
Do we really need to fight for the gospel message?

Paul writes his second letter to Timothy just before his death, possibly knowing Timothy’s work would be harder in the days to come.

This letter reinforces the message that had been given previously—the need to stay with sound doctrine, despite difficulties from within the church and society generally.

Problems of apostasy remained in the church, so Paul once again imparts godly wisdom to ‘his beloved child’. Yet, he encourages Timothy (and us) to develop a faith that is able to persevere through trials, even to the point of death.
